Happy Thanksgiving!

Because it’s the only sport I follow…..are there any others?A I am a big fan of these guys. They just won their 4th consecutive Sprint Nascar Championship! I love racing because there is a HUGE team backing up the driver….it really is a team effort and Jimmie thanks his team every week. There aren’t too many aspects that are left up to chance. There’s planning and thought that goes into each race track and each car for the week. As much as I like Jimmie…..I like his crew chief, Chad, the best! ……and I still love the fact that Jimmie gives his wife a big hug and kiss after every race. These are the sports icons I hope my kids notice and look up to (if any at all)……..not just because of the winning but the way they play the game.
I finally finished decorating one of our trees this weekend. Good thing I started early. The finishing touch is the train around the village. We had so many issues with our Lionel train last Christmas. I finally decided, after fiddling around with it for over three hours, that we needed a new train this year. I thought about going out to get another but then the frugal side of me kicked in. So, this is our new Christmas train.
Caleb is having a great time running the train around the village delivering the presents to each and every house.
Zach became a “real” boy scout last night. He fulfilled enough requirements to get his bobcat badge.
They had a fun little face painting ceremony……
and then they got to throw pies!
They got to throw one pie for every $300 of popcorn they sold. So, Zach threw two pies…..
and relished every minute of it!
The Good Samaritan
as told by McKenna
Did you hear about the man walking down the road? He tripped and fell and got all bloody. But, he didn’t have a car to go to the Dr. I don’t think he was carrying a bag so he didn’t have any band-aids either. He was hurt and all these people kept walking around him and they didn’t help him. They were mean. Then, one nice man walked by and he helped the man. That’s what we should do because Jesus told us. But, if the person is a stranger you need to ask your Mommy.
We took Zach and two of his friends to Legoland and the Rainforest Cafe over the weekend to celebrate his birthday.
We went on a jungle safari, watched some Lego 4-D movies, went on a few rides, played with Legos, visited a replica of Chicago and saw a few Star Wars characters.
Then, we met up with Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle Nathan, McKenna and Caleb at Rainforest Cafe for lunch. It was a fun day!
We went to jail on Sunday….Zach, McKenna, Caleb and I. We didn’t stay though….it was a tour of the Batavia police station for Boy Scouts.
The kids thought the police cars and jail were the best. I have to say that jails have come a long way…..not what I expected…..clean, spacious, your own potty, clean sheets……..I am pretty sure that every parent there was praying that this would be the last time their child would see the inside of a police station.
